From Wednesday 28th June, 2006, the Wel Hops website www.welhops.net will be extended with a series of new additions useful to all those interested in the subject of senior citizens' independence.

The Wel Hops website www.welhops.net has been extended as of today, Wednesday 28th June, 2006, with a series of new additions useful to all those interested in the subject of senior citizens' independence. The updated site includes survey questionnaires, photos, design drawings and explanations of housing suitable for the elderly.

All the material has been compiled by the partner countries involved in the Wel Hops project - welfare housing policies for senior citizens: Sweden, the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Hungary and Lithuania.

In the project’s initial phase, examples of "best practice" design of houses suitable for senior citizens were analysed. These will be worked on and used in the future to publish a set of guidelines on the website, providing a hands-on "manual" for building houses suitable for senior citizens and renovating existing ones.

As of the same date, the Final Report will be available on the website, publishing the conclusions of each partner countries’ studies of housing for senior citizens. The site will also include the Self-assessment Survey Questionnaire which was used to analyse over 40 houses for the elderly built in Europe, and the Working Plan which sets out the objectives and principal steps of the project (which began in April 2005 and will be concluded in September 2007).
