| The information on the website has undergone a major update, including the addition of a report explaining the best practice selection criteria
The wel_hops project has examined more than 40 older persons housing schemes across a range of European member states. The experiences have been surveyed to determine those which do most to promote independence and a high quality of life amongst their residents.
12 of the experiences surveyed were recognised as being amongst the very best in Europe. As economic and social circumstances vary across Europe, the project recognised a small number of schemes in each partner country. These schemes were presented with awards at ceremonies earlier this year.
A survey on senior citizens needs was also conducted in all partners countries, gathering information on whether the interviewees felt the needs of seniors have been met by the houses for seniors surveyed.
The reports on best practice selection and the needs analysis, together with many other documents have now been added to the website.
Work is currently underway to complete the design guidelines. We would like to thank all those who have taken the time to comment on the draft guidelines. Your assistance has been invaluable. The final design guidelines will be published in September 2007.
